Gastric Acid

The gastric acid is fluid or secretion produced by the stomach. It mainly consists of enzymes and certain intrinsic factors. This solution is acidic in nature with the pH 1-2 inside the stomach lumen. It mainly consists of hydrochloric acid (HCL) and potassium chloride and sodium chloride. These enzymes and secretions help in proper digestion of the food, but if it is secreted more than required it may cause acidity and gastric problems. Various drugs and syrups are given to control the excess production of gastric acid in the stomach.
